HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: Hartford Promise is pleased to announce that Sivan Hines, MD, has joined Hartford Promise as the Inaugural Senior Director of College Partnerships and Scholar Success. Sivan is a new resident of West Hartford and in joining Hartford Promise, she will focus on operationalizing Hartford Promise's integrated college success model, providing students with the financial resources, support services and key relationships that lead to college success and economic mobility. In addition to her work at Hartford Promise, Sivan has been named to the board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
“At this critical point in the growth of Hartford Promise, we are all thrilled that Sivan will be joining us. When we consider her longtime focus on health, youth, and equity, I can’t imagine a better person to help us connect our scholars with the support and resources they need, "says Richard Sugarman, President of Hartford Promise.
Prior to moving to West Hartford, Sivan worked as a pediatrician for more than twenty years in the Atlanta-based Wellstar Pediatric & Adolescent Center, helping to grow the practice into one of the region’s largest and most successful pediatric practices. In addition, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to community, serving on the boards of directors of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Covenant House of Georgia, Atlanta Youth Academy, Girls Inc. Of Greater Atlanta and the Brown Medical Alumni Association (current president-elect). Dr. Hines earned both her Bachelor of Arts in American Civilization and Neuroscience and her Doctorate of Medicine from Brown University.
“Although I am excited about what lies ahead, the decision to step down from the medical practice I have helped build over the past 22 years was not one I came to easily. I have treasured my relationships with my pediatric patients and their families and have always focused on empowering them from a health, social and educational perspective.” Sivan explains. “Concurrently, I have spent over twenty years attempting to combat racial, educational, and economic inequities through extensive nonprofit and philanthropic work. I am thrilled to be joining the amazing team at Hartford Promise in their critical work of providing our scholars with the resources, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in their college journey. College success is a pathway to economic success that will have generational impact not just for these students, but for the entire Harford community.”
“All of us at Hartford Promise are thrilled to welcome Sivan to our Promise Team. She brings wisdom, insights, passion, and a world of experience to our work. I can’t wait to see all the ways she will affect the lives of our Promise Scholars and our community. Get ready Hartford.” says Richard Sugarman, President of Hartford Promise.
