Jordan Green Joins Hartford Promise as Director of Reaching Back Services

Jordan Green, a widely respected and well-known youth counselor, advisor, and educator to Hartford area High School students has joined Hartford Promise as Director of Reaching Back Services, our engagement efforts in Hartford Public High Schools. “We are so excited that Jordan will be joining us. This is a new role at Hartford Promise, and it will allow us to provide deeper and more intensive outreach and support for talented Hartford students.” says Richard Sugarman, President of Hartford Promise. “Jordan will be the pivotal point person in strengthening the college going culture within the Hartford Public Schools. We know his efforts will successfully support the aspirations of hundreds of Hartford students to attend college and complete a degree.”
“I was born in Hartford CT and went on to attend Trinity College. As a first-generation college student who grew up in a marginalized community, I am committed to encouraging students to reach higher, and helping them to succeed. I am really excited about Hartford Promise,” says Jordan. “Hartford Promise has done an excellent job creating a stronger college going culture among Hartford area high school students. I see this position as a perfect way to leverage my values and continue my life’s work.”
“Jordan knows firsthand the importance of a college education, and what it can mean for our Hartford high school students, and our community.” continues Sugarman. Prior to joining Hartford Promise, Jordan served as Director of College and Career Readiness at Capital Prep a Hartford Magnet School. In his role he oversaw the college and career readiness of Capital Prep students and established an internship program where professional organizations worked with students from disadvantaged populations. During his tenure, he was responsible for helping to catalyze over $73,000,000 in scholarships and grants for high school students.
About Hartford Promise: Hartford Promise is a large-scale college scholarship and college success program for Hartford Public Schools students. Hartford Promise provides individual students from Hartford Public high schools who have maintained a B average, had a 93% attendance rate, and resided in Hartford with up to $20,000 in scholarships to attend the college of their choice, along with providing the support services and key relationships that lead to college success. There are currently 480 Hartford Promise Scholars attending 90 different colleges all over the country. They are succeeding at a high rate, and many are returning to Hartford to give back and be part of a diverse talented pipeline of professionals and employees.
